Meet TA-DA!'s newest, lovely, French intern!
Hi! My name is Elsa Whyte and I recently joined the TA-DA! team as an intern. I am currently in my third year at UC Berkeley studying Political Science and Spanish, but right now I’m writing to you from Santiago, Chile, where I am spending a semester abroad. Mi vida ahora está llena de “chilenismos” pero poco a poco me voy acostumbrando a la vida chilena (¿cachai?). I’m loving the warm weather, the beautiful view of the Andes, the hills that pop up all around the city, and the Pisco sour cocktails.
My whole life I’ve been surrounded by all things international. Mon père est Niçois (from the city of Nice!), and my mother is from Dallas, Texas, so I grew up speaking French and English at home. Je suis née et j’ai passé toute ma vie à Los Angeles, California, where I attended the French-immersion international school, le Lycée International de Los Angeles. When I was 11 years old, I started learning Spanish, y pronto se convirtió en mi materia favorita. My parents and my school gave me an appetite for traveling, and since then it has become my passion. Though I’ve never lived abroad, I’ve been lucky to study abroad in Roma, Madrid, and now Santiago.
When I’m not reading for my Political Science and Spanish classes, I volunteer at a middle school and I give tours as a campus ambassador at Berkeley. My hobbies include discovering new coffee shops in town, watching telenovelas, and watching/playing volleyball. You can win me over with any kind of ice cream (by no coincidence at all, my apartment in Santiago is next door to the #24 best ice cream place in the world), but my favorite food in the world will always be une baguette croustillante.
